Dreading The Shaving? How To Turn Your Beard Shave Into A Pleasant Experience

Blog

If it's time to get rid of the beard, but you're dreading the shave, you might be shaving all wrong. Shaving a beard doesn't need to be a painful experience. In fact, with the right care, shaving your beard can be downright pleasant. Never enjoyed a pleasant experience while shaving your beard? Read the list provided below. You'll find four steps to take for a pleasant shave.

Shower First

If you usually shave before you shower, you're doing it in the wrong order. You might not realize it, but showering before you shave actually softens the hair. And, softened hair is easier to shave. The next time you shave, step into the hot shower first. Give your pores time to open up, and your facial hair time to soften. Once you've dried off, you can start shaving your beard.

Choose Foam

If you've been using soap and water to shave your beard, it's time for a change. Shaving with soap can cause a few problems for you. First, soap can cause razor burn. Second, soap dries out your skin. Finally, soap increases the risk for nicks and cuts. To get a clean shave, use a shaving cream or gel instead. They'll remove the hair, and moisturize your skin at the same time. Best of all, you'll have a nice, close shave.

Know the Growth

If you're never happy with the results when you shave your beard, check out the growth pattern. You might think that you should shave in the opposite direction of your facial hair growth. That's not the case though. You actually need to shave with the grain. Or, shave in the same direction as the hair growth. Shaving against the grain can irritate your skin. But, you won't have that problem if you shave with the direction of your facial hair growth.

Splash Cool Water

For a more refreshing shave, don't forget to follow the session with a splash of cool water. Cool water does a couple of things. First, cool water closes the pores, which helps to reduce razor burn and irritation. Second, it cools down the heat that can occur after a close shave. Finally, splashing your face with cool water closes up any nicks you might have gotten. Pat your face dry with a soft towel and then finish off with a moisturizer.

If it's time for a beard shave, use the tips provided here to pamper yourself in the process.
